School Year TITLE:
School Nurse The Merrimack Middle School is seeking a compassionate School Nurse to join their team. This position is primarily located a the middle school but will support the other schools in our distract as needed. This position is approximately 4 days a week (not to exceed 16 days a month).
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid New Hampshire state license as a registered nurse or nurse practitioner Certified by the State Board of Education (if required by the Department of Education) Minimum of three years' current experience in pediatric/emergency/school/public health nursing preferred CPR/AED/First Aid certification
JOB GOAL
Provides healthcare for school-aged students within the Merrimack School District.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes authority for the care of students and staff who have suffered emergency illness/injury during the scheduled school day Conduct school health services including, but not limited to: injury/illness assessments, immunization compliance, and screenings for hearing and vision Oversee, prepare, and dispense medication for students Initiate referrals as needed for students requiring additional medical/dental care Maintain ongoing communication with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students Educate school staff regarding emergency medical care procedures, including, but not limited to: epi pen training, seizure protocols, emergency first aid Participate in 504/IEP meetings and advises on modification of the educational program to meet the health needs of individual students Provide and manage care for students with medical needs requiring ongoing attention, following medical directives from student's physician(s) Maintain accurate daily treatment records utilizing school district record keeping system Supports district efforts to promote positive, safe, and healthy learning communities, in accordance with the District Wellness Policy (JLCF) Authorize exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases Informs teachers of health conditions or diagnoses on a need-to-know basis Attends committee meetings, nursing conferences and trainings to maintain CEU's Demonstrate effective oral and written communication Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to schools and medical information, including IEP's, 504's, HIPAA, FERPA, etc. Ability to work autonomously as well as collaborating and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team Serves on District wide committees as needed Performs other responsible/duties as may be requested Days per week: 4 Salary based on MTA contract
