Videos Duties Help The specific duties of the position based on the unit/assignment for which the applicant is selected. General registered nurse duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstres proficiency in collecting pient da by interview, examinion and review of records systemically; completes the assessment form including bio/psych/social, physical, learning and discharge needs within the required time frame. Maintains all practice-specific, specialized competencies and mandory reviews (unit equipment list, aging, chemotherapy, cancer pain management, clinical informion management, 12-lead EKG, chemotherapy safety, code cart/defibrillor (QD) check, management of intravenous devices, skin assessment). Provides age-specific care for adults of all ages, particularly the young adult (18-39), the middle adult (40-64), the older adult (65-74) and geriric (over 80+), which includes the following elements reled to the aging process and/or affects the aging process: promotes independence, encourages self-care; involves family or designed caregiver with care; provides any necessary safety measures, and assists pient to cope with and/or compense for changes affecting mobility, balance, loss of cognition, eyesight, hearing, bones, and skin. Assesses age-specific care requirements, cultural, religious, and gender variables and develops approprie plan of care. Applies advance knowledge and specialized skills in delivery of care to pients with a variety of simple and complex care needs Delege's assignments consistent with personnel's abilities and pient needs. Evalues quality of pient care and inities quality improvement activities to improve care. Applies established standards of care/practice in the development, implemention and evaluion of care plans. Documents measurable goals to include teaching and health maintenance in consultion with the provider, pient and family and approprie health care team members. Accurely follows medicion and trement procedures and policies demonstring knowledge of medicion effects and actions. Works effectively with pients, families or significant others, as well as with professionals and support personnel. English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct pient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Gradue of a school of professional nursing approved by the approprie accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accredition Commission for Educion in Nursing ( ACEN ) or The Commission on Collegie Nursing Educion ( CCNE ); OR Individuals tending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a ste licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a Ste license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and ler converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduion from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of gradues of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registrion will meet the requirement for graduion from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associed degree/entry level Nursing educion program. Credit for foreign nursing educion higher th associe degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validion from a recognized equivalency evaluion accepted by VA such as Internional Consultants of Delaware ( ICD ). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registrion as a gradue professional nurse in a Ste, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United Stes, or the District of Columbia. Gradue Nurse Technician (GNT)Exception:
Candides who otherwise meet the basic educion requirements, but do not possess the required licensure, may be appointed the entry step of the grade and level applicable to the completed nursing educion as a GNT on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure (may be extended up to two years on a case-by-case-basis.)NOTE:
