Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

Preoperative Preparation:

Conduct preoperative assessments, verify medical histories, and ensure patients are medically and emotionally ready for surgery.

Assisting During Procedures:

Work as a circulating nurse in the operating room, maintaining sterility, handing instruments, and supporting the surgical team.

Intraoperative Monitoring:

Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during surgery, intervening promptly to ensure safety and comfort.

Postoperative Recovery:

Manage the recovery room, observe patients as they wake from anesthesia, and provide care for safe discharge.

Patient Education:

Initiate and participate in pre- and post-op education, addressing patient and family questions and reinforcing care instructions.

Documentation:

Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and responses in line with nursing standards and facility policies.

Coordination of Care:

Communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other staff to ensure continuity of care and timely discharge planning.

Emergency Care:

Provide emergency interventions in accordance with physician and facility protocols.

Compliance & Safety:

Follow surgical protocols, infection control standards, and healthcare regulations; maintain aseptic technique and safety precautions.

Qualifications:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Preop, PACU, and/or OR experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required upon hire. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
