This specialized role involves providing expert nursing care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions, including those undergoing complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization and ventilator management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in advanced patient assessment, acute care, and the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems, including Epic and Cerner. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional cardiovascular care in a fast-paced hospital environment. Candidates with critical care experience, ICU background, or hospital medicine expertise are encouraged to apply. Duties Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CVICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators. Perform detailed patient assessments and develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols. Utilize advanced skills such as IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, and aseptic technique during procedures. Collaborate with physicians and specialists on diagnostic evaluations, including echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, and laboratory testing. Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR systems like Epic and Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient education on post-procedure care, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications related to cardiovascular health. Respond swiftly to emergencies such as acute pain episodes or airway compromise, demonstrating proficiency in airway management and critical interventions. Participate in discharge planning and case management activities to ensure seamless patient transitions across care settings. Engage in ongoing professional development related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or other specialized areas pertinent to CVICU. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction. Demonstrated critical care experience within an ICU setting; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic and Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding is advantageous. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques pertinent to cardiovascular patients. Experience with advanced procedures including cardiac catheterization, tube feeding management, and ventilator support. Ability to perform complex medical documentation accurately while adhering to HIPAA standards. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and engaging with patients' families. Additional skills such as suturing, phlebotomy, medication administration via injection or IV insertion, infection control practices, and laboratory experience are highly desirable. Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law or hospice & palliative medicine is a plus for comprehensive patient support.
