1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level
III/IV NICU
position requiring 2+ years of neonatal care experience, Epic proficiency, and an active NJ or Compact RN license. Details Level
III NICU
within a large quaternary care academic teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School NICU serves as a Regional Perinatal Center supporting more than 15 hospitals and participates in the Vermont Oxford Network Patient population includes neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation, including those with neonatal abstinence syndrome Patient ratios are 1:1-3 in the NICU and 1:4 in the IMCU Travelers will not be assigned Level IV patients, ECMO cases, or fresh post-ops, and will not attend high-risk deliveries Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30) Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required, subject to change based on unit needs Holiday coverage required (1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs) Floating may be required to NBN, Peds, and PICU based on patient volume and acuity; float assignments will be within the traveler's verified skillset Charting is done in Epic (experience required); Crib Notes also used Local candidates are accepted Requirements Active NJ or Compact RN license required Current BLS and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required Experience in a Level
III NICU
required Proficiency with Epic EMR required Clinical skills required: blood product administration, IV insertion and maintenance, medication management (anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics/antivirals, steroids), neonatal dosage calculations, and phlebotomy Experience with cardiovascular/telemetry monitoring, ventilated/intubated patients, HFNC respiratory support, oxygen delivery systems, and respiratory distress management required Experience with enteral feedings, tube placement, glucose monitoring, insulin administration, hyperbilirubinemia/phototherapy, and colostomy/ileostomy care required Experience with developmental care, patient and family teaching, infection control, isolation precautions, and sepsis workups required SSN and DOB required for consideration Two current professional references required Copies of certifications required Additional Information Responsibilities include neonatal neurologic care, breastfeeding support, phototherapy management, and family education Unit is staffed by 12 board-certified neonatologists and specialized teams available 24/7 Navy blue scrubs required First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment No RTO or scheduling requests will be approved after an offer is made
