  • 5:00 PM Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Cardiac Catheterization Lab is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
Working collaboratively with cardiologists, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members, the Cath Lab RN delivers comprehensive care throughout the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases while ensuring patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes. This role requires strong critical care experience, advanced assessment skills, knowledge of cardiac procedures and emergency interventions, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment. Essential Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Care Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care. Monitor patient status before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures. Assess and respond appropriately to changes in hemodynamic and cardiovascular status. Deliver age-appropriate care to adult and geriatric patient populations. Clinical Practice Provide direct nursing care during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. Assist with cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, stent placements, electrophysiology procedures, and emergency STEMI interventions. Administer medications, conscious sedation, IV therapies, and emergency treatments in accordance with established protocols. Operate and monitor specialized cardiovascular equipment and emergency response systems. Demonstrate proficiency in managing critically ill cardiovascular patients. Documentation Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation. Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and legal documentation standards. Complete patient education and discharge documentation. Patient & Family Education Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions. Assess patient understanding and reinforce education as needed. Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure teaching to support positive patient outcomes. Professional Practice Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and adherence to nursing standards of practice. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities. Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Safety & Quality Follow National Patient Safety Goals and Universal Protocol standards. Utilize two patient identifiers and ensure procedural safety compliance. Demonstrate proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques. Respond effectively during cardiovascular emergencies and code situations. Responsibility & Accountability Prioritize patient care according to acuity and procedural requirements. Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care. Assume responsibility for directing and managing patient care throughout the procedural continuum. Contribute positively to departmental goals and team performance. Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Responsibilities Support completion of required patient testing prior to procedures. Review and evaluate pre-admission testing orders for completeness and appropriateness. Identify potential omissions based on procedure type, patient age, and health status. Required QualificationsEducation Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Licensure & Certifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Experience Minimum two (2) years of Critical Care experience required. Previous Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience strongly preferred. Experience caring for patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and emergency intervention preferred. Expected on-call coverage:
10-12 call shifts per month . Includes 1-2 weekend call assignments per month (Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM). Weekend call assignments count toward the total monthly call requirement. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures. Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed. Ability to respond rapidly during emergency cardiovascular situations. Physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety and Organizational Medical Standards (OMS). Work Environment The RN

The position requires advanced clinical expertise, strong critical thinking skills, emergency response capabilities, and the ability to function effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced setting where patient safety and procedural excellence are paramount.
Pay:
$80.00 per hour Application Question(s): Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Minimum two (2) years of Critical Care experience required.
