Hours:
36 hours per week (3 x 12-hour shifts) Job Summary Chilton Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for its Emergency Department. The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment skills, clinical expertise in emergency nursing, and the ability to respond effectively in fast-paced, high-acuity situations. Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment Perform comprehensive, systematic, and accurate patient assessments. Recognize and respond appropriately to patient needs across all stages of growth and development. Continuously monitor patient conditions and communicate significant changes to the healthcare team. Clinical Care Deliver direct patient care in accordance with established nursing standards and evidence-based practices. Demonstrate competency in emergency nursing procedures, equipment, and interventions. Prioritize patient care based on acuity and changing clinical conditions. Collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Documentation Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient responses, education, and outcomes. Adhere to facility documentation standards and regulatory requirements. Patient & Family Education Provide education regarding diagnoses, treatments, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions. Assess patient and family understanding and reinforce teaching as needed. Encourage patient and family participation in care planning. Professional Practice Maintain accountability and responsibility for assigned patient care. Demonstrate adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards. Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education activities. Safety & Quality Follow National Patient Safety Goals and infection prevention protocols. Utilize two patient identifiers and adhere to Universal Protocol standards. Practice safe patient handling and transfer techniques. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centered care. Team Collaboration Foster positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. Support a collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care and satisfaction. Serve as an effective member of the Emergency Department team. Qualifications Required Active Registered Nurse (RN) License. Minimum one (1) year of recent Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Cardiac nursing experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Preferred Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required for Pediatric Emergency Department assignments). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong emergency nursing assessment and critical thinking skills. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills. Competency with emergency equipment, procedures, and patient monitoring systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of patient care. Physical Requirements Must meet physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety and Employee Health guidelines. Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push, and assist with patient transfers throughout the shift.
Pay:
$60.00 per hour Application Question(s): Active Registered Nurse (RN) License. Minimum one (1) year of recent Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Cardiac nursing experience.
