Job Overview:
Our healthcare facility is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest standards of service. We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room who is passionate about delivering quality healthcare services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.Responsibilities:
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage time, equipment, supplies, and personnel in the operating room.
- Anticipate patient needs and provide appropriate care using the necessary equipment.
- Adhere to accepted Standards of Practice and organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist in ordering, receiving, and storing supplies for the operating room.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pre-operative area.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients in the pre-operative area, explaining procedures and care instructions.
- Ensure completion of necessary consents, patient rights information, and pre/post-operative instructions.
- Initiate nursing documentation in patients' medical records accurately.
- Perform pre-operative assessments including checking for allergies and intake history.
- Verify operative consent details, physician information, and necessary signatures.
- Record vital signs and document them appropriately.
- Review pre-operative checklists for completeness and accuracy.
- Notify physicians of any abnormal laboratory values and document findings.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
- Prepare the designated area for procedures following protocols.
- Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, Operating Room staff, and physicians.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess:- Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or an acute hospital surgical department for at least one year.
- Familiarity with suture techniques, IV insertion, occupational health standards, HIPAA regulations, and Ophthalmology procedures is advantageous.
- Experience in caring for patients across different age groups including toddlers would be beneficial.
