• Externship Program Begins Job Summary To provide direct, basic patient care activities under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse.

To provide care and cleaning of specific equipment, stocking of supplies and equipment and the transportation of patients, supplies and equipment. Core Duties and Responsibilities Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights Assures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting Documents in a clear and legible manner Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients, family and significant others while providing care Communicates & provides care consistent with age & developmental needs of patient Communicates & provides care consistent with cultural & spiritual needs of patient Communicates change in patient's condition to all applicable individuals; documents appropriately Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care Minimum Requirements Enrolled in a Nursing Program Students must be in good standing as indicated by their institution BLS through the American Heart Association Nursing student with at least 2 (two) Clinical Rotations in a hospital setting Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull Commitment Requirements 36 hours per week commitment during the summer months (June/July/August) 24 hours per month commitment in non-summer months Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends Additional information To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
