In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across various medical-surgical units, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and education. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care environments, with experience in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine, critical care, and outpatient services. Your expertise will support our commitment to delivering compassionate, efficient, and evidence-based care to a broad patient population. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques; manage IV infusions and catheter care. Monitor patients' conditions vigilantly, recognizing signs of acute pain, infection, or deterioration; escalate concerns promptly to the healthcare team. Provide wound care procedures including suturing assistance and ostomy management as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and best practices. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures (e.g., CT scans), and cardiac catheterization preparations. Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies. Maintain accurate medical documentation of patient care activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support triage functions by prioritizing patient needs in urgent or emergency situations within hospital or outpatient settings. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, trauma medicine protocols, or chronic disease management such as geriatrics or behavioral health. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from an accredited nursing program. Proven experience in medical-surgical units; prior ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience is highly desirable. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding is advantageous. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to acute care nursing. Experience performing complex procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, and ventilator support. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or urgent care clinics. Competence in infection control practices and aseptic techniques; familiarity with laboratory processes is preferred. Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse healthcare settings. Additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred.
