Job Goal:
The Lead Nurse serves as a leader and resource to promote health and safety in the district's schools and to enhance the delivery of health services to students, faculty, and staff to assist with the teaching of sound health practices.
Performance Responsibilities:
Overall Responsibilities Promote an optimal level of wellness in West Deptford Township Schools and our community. Work collaboratively and cooperatively for the benefit of the total school program. Enhance the educational process by modification or removal of health-related barriers to learning. Develop collaborative protocols and standard procedures for and among school nurses and, as needed, for the district. Provide leadership in the development of the total school nursing and health services program, and work to assure that these align with state regulations as well as district goals and objectives. Serve on the district Emergency Management Team and provide appropriate guidance in health-related matters. Coordinate the district's School Nurses in the development and implementation of the district's Emergency Management Plan. Assist in the implementation of the district's in-service education program for nursing staff members and recommends nursing personnel attendance at conferences and participation in other professional growth activities. Provide training and professional development to staff regarding school health services as necessary. Study, evaluate, and, as appropriate, recommend to the Superintendent of Schools the adoption of new practices, materials, methods, and programs. Confer with and advise students, parents, and staff members on matters pertaining to the health and safety of students. Serve as a School Nurse and fulfill all obligations and duties of that job description.
