Job Overview:
Looking for a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse to join our dynamic Behavioral Health Team in our New Brunswick inpatient Crisis Unit. The APN provides psychiatric services for psychiatric patients within a psychosocial milieu. The APN is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining an individual level of knowledge and experience and assuming responsibility for advancing knowledge utilizing available resource persons and programs.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Nursing required
RN License APN License PMHNP Certification CDS and DEA BLS Scheduling Requirements:
M-F 8a-5p Weekend coverage as needed
Essential Functions:
Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, intakes, consults or may maintain a case load and all pertinent clinical documentation Is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics The Psychiatric APN assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available The Advanced Practice Nurse provides an advanced level of nursing care based upon graduate education and broad experience with behavioral health patients and their families The APN practices in collaboration with the physicians, clinicians, case managers and other health care professionals The APN practices and conforms to the guidelines set by the NJ Board of Nursing, NJSA 13:37 for the regulation of nurses in advance practice as Nurse Practitioners The APN is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician The APN provides behavioral health care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients
