Job Description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years OR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. As a travel RN in this picturesque area, you'll be at the heart of authentic Southwestern culture while enjoying the ability to grow professionally in a critical access hospital environment. This role allows you to broaden your expertise by navigating diverse clinical challenges, collaborating with skilled multidisciplinary teams, and building your CV with experience in a rural, highly adaptable setting.
Schedule/Hours:
Variable shifts with frequent on-call requirements to support 24/7 surgical services
Key Responsibilities:
Advocate for patients throughout their surgical experience, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity at all times Verify patient identity, surgery site, and consent; perform thorough preoperative assessments and participate in safety time-out procedures Prepare the OR with the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, and ensure aseptic and sterile environment standards are maintained Manage intraoperative documentation, coordinate communication among the anesthesia provider, surgeon, and scrub personnel, and handle specimens accurately Monitor patient status during surgery, perform surgical counts, and provide comfort measures for patient stability Maintain supplies, ensure equipment functionality, and participate in cost-effective, resource-savvy practices Provide thorough hand-offs for postoperative transitions to the PACU or other care units Respond rapidly to surgical emergencies and participate in after-hours on-call rotations Uphold infection control protocols, participate in ongoing performance improvement, and support compliance with regulatory standards
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or
BSN, BSN
preferred) Active, unrestricted RN license (NM or compact license accepted) BLS (AHA required), ACLS (required or willingness to obtain within 6 months), and PALS (preferred/required depending on services) Circulator experience (1-2 years strongly preferred) Previous experience in rural, critical access, or resource-limited hospital settings preferred Strong knowledge of OR procedures and aseptic technique; detail-oriented with excellent communication
