Description
Develops, implements, evaluates and revises plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs of the patient/family. Assesses patient during Preoperative through post-operative stages and monitors for changes that may hinder recovery. Must be competent in starting IV's, educating patients and families on procedures and medications, monitoring of sedation level, body temperature, blood loss and transfusions, cardiac monitoring, and drawing of specimens. Collaborates with staff, physicians, and other disciplines to provide quality care delivery. Must have knowledge of ventilating patients and
maintaining of airways. Maintains clinical knowledge and skills competency to facilitate patient care in accordance with current standards of practice. Provides for a safe patient care environment. Monitors environment and initiates intervention to provide safe
patient care. Must be a team player and assist with turning over rooms, ensuring that post-operative space is clean, assist with calling patients to inform of surgery times and instructions, as well as assisting in building of charts.
Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
Conducts pre and post operative education.
Takes and monitors patients' vital signs.
Ensures that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed.
Provides basic, bedside care.
Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through and IV) and records prescribed medications.
Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Preps operating room for patient/procedure.
Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician.
Monitors patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the car continuum.
Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their post-treatment home care needs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation.
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.

Experience
1 Year of Clinical experience preferred
