Responsibilities:
This role involves monitoring the health of both mother and baby , providing education on newborn care, and promoting bonding and breastfeeding .
Other responsibilities include:
Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, including physical assessments, monitoring vital signs, and addressing any medical concerns. Support and educate new parents on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum self-care. Assist with initiating and maintaining breastfeeding, offering guidance and addressing challenges. Monitor mothers for signs of postpartum complications, such as infection, excessive bleeding, or mood disorders, and intervene as needed. Observe and assess newborns for signs of jaundice, feeding difficulties, or other health concerns. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Respond to emergencies promptly and provide critical care as necessary. Educate families on safety measures, including safe sleep practices and car seat safety.
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Nursing State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License BLS certification
