SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The RN demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization while maintaining professionalism, quality clinical practice, and respectful interactions with staff, physicians, patients, and families.

Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders Obtains and records initial patient assessments and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention Develops and implements measurable individualized plans of care within established nursing standards Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcomes Modifies plan of care based upon evaluations Participates in patient/significant other education and discharge planning Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs Evaluates the plan of care Performs various Point of Care testing procedures
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Skills:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served Knowledgeable and sensitive to patient rights in the delivery of care Communicates in a clear and concise manner appropriate to the developmental age of the patient
Experience:
All newly hired nurses with two or less years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired in at a CNI status New hires may be considered for higher clinical ladder levels (Level II and III only) based on: Relevant clinical experience National professional nursing certifications Additional nursing education (BSN/MSN)
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact State RN license required Current BLS Certification required Current ACLS Certification required Current NRP Certification required
