Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position within a dynamic healthcare environment. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive maternal care, supporting women through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise, strong patient assessment skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced setting. This position emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, medical documentation standards, and collaborative teamwork to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and interventions.
  • Document care in EHR systems like Epic.
  • Educate mothers on childbirth and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with obstetric teams.
Responsibilities Monitor and assess maternal and neonatal vital signs throughout labor, delivery, and recovery phases. Administer medications including pain management techniques and assist with procedures such as suturing or catheterization. Support patients during labor with techniques like IV infusion management, airway management, and neonatal resuscitation procedures. Maintain sterile technique and ensure infection control protocols are rigorously followed during all procedures. Document patient care accurately using electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner. Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. Educate patients on postpartum care, breastfeeding support, and newborn care practices. Prepare the delivery room for procedures involving sterile processing and equipment setup. Assist with triage assessments for incoming laboring patients and manage acute pain or emergency situations effectively. Support neonatal assessments including vital signs measurement and initial physical examinations. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure. Proven experience in labor and delivery nursing within hospital or maternity center settings. Critical care experience preferred, with familiarity in obstetrics-specific procedures such as fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding is advantageous. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology related to pregnancy and neonatal health. Strong skills in patient assessment, medication administration, aseptic technique, and documentation standards compliant with HIPAA regulations. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments requiring critical response skills. Experience working with diverse patient populations including individuals with disabilities or complex medical histories is desirable. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
