Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse - Otolaryngology to provide specialized outpatient nursing care within the Gastroenterology Clinic at Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) . General Duties Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries. Perform duties in accordance with the
PWS, DHA
standards, and MTF policies. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for adult and geriatric patients. Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness
Specific Duties Procedural & Clinical Support:
Procedure Preparation & Counseling:
Conduct pre-procedural counseling and education for patients and families. Prepare patients upon arrival, obtaining and documenting detailed medical histories and physical assessments.
Procedural Assistance:
Assist providers during a wide range of GI procedures, including Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, ERCP, esophageal pH testing, paracentesis, liver biopsy, and PEG placement.
Emergent Interventions:
Assist with urgent and emergent procedures such as endoscopy for GI bleeding control, foreign body removal, and cholangitis.
On-Call Coverage:
Provide scheduled on-call coverage during regular and after-business hours (including overnights, weekends, and holidays) to support urgent and emergent needs.
Sedation & Patient Care Management:
Moderate Sedation & Recovery:
Administer and monitor intravenous (IV) moderate/conscious sedation during procedures. Manage full patient recovery in the procedure room or designated recovery areas.
Advanced Nursing Procedures:
Perform IV cannulation and therapy (including antibiotics and blood products), oxygen administration, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, pill camera endoscopy, and manometry.
Equipment Operation:
Set up, operate, and monitor specialized medical and endoscopy equipment, IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, and EKG units.
Care Coordination:
Collaborate proactively with the GI team to assess discharge planning needs, ensuring optimal patient outcomes, safety, and timely discharge.
Qualifications Degree:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Education:
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications must be through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Online-only certifications are not accepted.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a clinical nurse in the medical/surgical, critical care inpatient, or emergency department settings and have been employed in one of those work settings within the past 36 months. Minimum of one (1) year experience providing moderate sedation with recovery..
Licensure:
Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, disease process and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience to acutely ill adults and geriatric patients as appropriate. Utilize the nursing process as a basis for professional practice; a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations; administrative requirements for proper documentation of patients condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care; a wide range of medical disorders and conditions as appropriate, as seen in critically ill patients; and preventative health schedules, procedures, processes, and education methods
Schedule:
Monday through Friday Standard clinic hours: 0600 - 1800 To meet clinic coverage requirements, a flexible schedule may be implemented, including the option of working 10-hour shifts. Maximum 40 hours per week No on-call requirement

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift and move clinical supplies and equipment Ability to assist patients during examinations and procedures Manual dexterity sufficient for clinical nursing duties Work Environment This position is performed in a military outpatient Otolaryngology clinic environment within Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center. The work setting includes direct patient care, specialty procedures, interdisciplinary collaboration, and electronic medical documentation. Immunization Requirement Must comply with all DHA and Medical Employee Health Program (MEHP) immunization and health screening requirements, including annual influenza vaccination and tuberculosis screening. Security Requirement Must be able to pass all required background investigations, credentialing, and installation access requirements for work on Nellis Air Force Base.
