Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day / 5 days per week. 8:00am - 4:30pm
Position Summary:
This is a hybrid clinical role responsible for providing specialized triage services in support of the Infusion Department, while also assisting in diagnostic imaging procedures and phlebotomy services. The RN will ensure timely, patient-centered care delivery while maintaining strong collaboration with providers, infusion services, and imaging teams.
Responsibilities of Position:
Participate in patient care activities including vital signs, medication administration, and diagnostic support as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked clinical environment Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient patient care Provide patient and family education and resource guidance Adhere to all organizational policies including HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and patient-centered communication at all times Complete continuing education and maintain clinical competencies Perform phone triage specifically for migraine patients, and those requesting same day infusion therapy Assess patient symptoms, acuity, and appropriateness for infusion services; determine urgency and next steps Coordinate care with providers regarding treatment plans, infusion needs, and medication requests Document all patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in the EMR Ensure complete and accurate patient information (demographics, medication lists, allergies, pharmacy details) Provide timely follow-up and patient communication to ensure continuity of care Route and coordinate infusion scheduling in collaboration with Infusion Department staff Serve as a clinical liaison between patients, providers, and infusion services. Assist with triaging infusion-related concerns and patient eligibility Support coordination and readiness of patients for infusion therapy Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures including: IV placement and administration of IV contrast and medications per protocol Patient assessment, monitoring, and vital signs collection Preparation and setup of imaging supplies and equipment Educate patients regarding imaging procedures and address concerns Maintain accurate documentation of care provided during imaging encounters. Perform phlebotomy services, including specialized platelet function testing Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, labeling, and transport in accordance with protocols Maintain competency in laboratory-related procedures and safety practices Performs other duties as assigned or requested Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Skills & Experience Necessary:
Strong telephone triage and clinical assessment skills Ability to prioritize and manage patient needs based on acuity Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments Proficiency in EMR systems and general computer applications Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and follow all HIPAA guidelines Must be flexible and professional in all interactions with patients, providers and all staff Neurology experience preferred Previous phone triage experience preferred Required Education Graduated from an accredited nursing program and a Registered Nurse in the State of New York BLS certification required ACLS certification required within 1 month of onboarding
Working Conditions:
Combination of desk-based triage work and direct patient care duties Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking Regular fine hand manipulation Bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, and pushing/ pulling Occasional moderate physical effort associated with patient transfer assistance Exposure to clinical environments and potential biohazards Requires some lifting, usually not in excess of 30 pounds Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Compensation:
Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range Rates are commensurate with experience
