Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact as a 1:1 school nurse for a dedicated student who has recently undergone a tracheostomy. This contract opportunity is located near Ashville, NY, and involves working closely with a student at a BOCES placement to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the school day. Preferred candidates will have previous trach care experience and a readiness to start as early as July, supporting both the summer program (ESY) and continuing into the regular school year (NSY). The summer session runs from July 6 to August 14; if unavailable for summer, a September 8 start is welcome.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Current RN licensure required Experience providing care in a school setting strongly preferred Comfort and proficiency with tracheostomy care; prior experience highly desired Ability to respond calmly and quickly in emergency situations Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, school teams, and families Commitment to upholding students' dignity, privacy, and health rights
Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 nursing support to a student with a tracheostomy throughout the school day Maintain and monitor all necessary medical equipment and supplies Administer medications according to prescribed healthcare plan Document daily care and communicate any health status changes promptly Coordinate with school staff to ensure a safe and inclusive educational environment Collaborate proactively with parents/guardians and multidisciplinary teams This contract position offers an inspiring opportunity to make a genuine difference in a student's life while gaining rewarding school-based experience.
