Job Description

Registered Nurse assesses the nursing care required for the children admitted into the education program and provides care as needed. Maintains and supports compliance issues for outside regulatory agencies, including Bureau of Day Care and State Education Department. Serves as liaison between the school and the families and healthcare providers of the children. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Participates in the Intake and Admission process of the children. 2. Reviews physical assessment of each child to ensure that physicals are compliant. 3. Provides direct patient care and administer medications in accordance with the physician's orders and updates orders per policy and regulation. 4. Implements and monitors a plan of care based on physician's orders. 5. Monitors child's immunization needs, facilitates compliance and updates records as needed. 6. Acts as a liaison with community physicians and clinics regarding the child's care and services. Obtains physician's orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 7. Maintains the materials of the nursing office including biomedical equipment and medical supplies. 8. Monitors and records participants' response to treatment. 9. Assists with developing, maintaining, and revising Nursing policies and procedures. 10. Serves as the resource person to the staff with regard to health and medical conditions of each child, and helps to interpret how this will affect learning. 11. Communicates all pertinent patient care, safety, infection and quality control, medication regimen, and other medical information with the Director. 12. Completes all patient care and medication regimen documentation in a concise, accurate, and timely manner. 13. Functions as medical resources in case of emergency. 14. Provides support to the staff of the Early Education program as needed. Formal education required : Registered Nurse, licensed by New York State Previous experience required: A minimum of three years of recent experience in a school setting with special needs children.
