Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Operating Room Job Type Contract Join a dedicated perioperative nursing team, where your expertise in Operating Room procedures and commitment to the highest nursing standards are valued. This contract role focuses on providing specialized care within the operating room, with an emphasis on cardiothoracic surgery, while also supporting general, minimally invasive, robotic, GYN, GU, ENT, and orthopedic cases as needed.
Schedule & Hours:
Four 10-hour shifts weekly, Monday through Friday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) On-call requirement: 3 to 4 shifts per week (call starts after your shift ends and ends at the next shift's start) Up to every other weekend on call (from Friday after shift to Monday at 6:00 am)
Desired Skills & Experience:
Active RN license with current standing in New York Demonstrated operating room experience, including cardiothoracic and general surgical procedures Solid understanding of OR nursing protocols, safety practices, and relevant equipment Knowledgeable in current evidence-based nursing and pharmacology Excellent communication and patient education abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized perioperative nursing care Oversee and coordinate care delivery, serving as the primary or accountable nurse when assigned Educate patients and families on health promotion, recovery, and disease management Administer medications safely and in accordance with established protocols Support a healing environment for patient-centered care and uphold ethical standards Drive process improvements by participating in shared governance and council initiatives Maintain compliance with all professional, regulatory, and hospital-specific requirements Mentor new team members and contribute to a positive workplace culture Step into charge or coordination roles when needed, embracing additional responsibilities Elevate your career while making a meaningful impact on surgical outcomes and patient experience.
