Job Description:
Compass Healthcare Consulting & Placement is conducting a search for an experienced Senior Accountant for a position with a healthcare group overseeing Skilled Nursing Facility Management, office located in Queens, NY. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years of experience including both public and private accounting. Experience with Skilled Nursing Facilities is required. Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and applicable federal, state, local, and regulatory requirements, as well as general ledger and financial statement experience. Senior Accountant
  • Skilled Nursing Facilities The Accountant reviews the financial affairs of the organization and manages the financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and compliance with healthcare regulations like Medicaid/Medicare.
Prepare financial statements, reconcile bank accounts, and handle cost reporting. Key duties include overseeing resident accounts and ensuring compliance with state/federal laws.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Perform month-end close, prepare journal entries, and maintain the general ledger. Assist with cost reports, tax returns, and annual audits. Monitor Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay billing, often overseeing AR staff. Ability to Process payroll and manage vendor invoices. Maintain fixed asset records and manage resident trust accounts. Analyze financial variances and participate in budgeting/forecasting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in healthcare or long-term care settings. Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and healthcare billing regulations (Medicare/Medicaid). Required Abilities Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
