Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity awaits an experienced Registered Nurse to support a kindergarten student with diabetes in a school environment. This contract role is based within a summer special education program, offering focused, one-to-one care. The assignment runs from July 6, 2026 to August 14, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 11:30am. There is potential for ongoing employment for the following academic year, continuing as a 1:1 school nurse from September 8, 2026 through June 24, 2027, with hours from 9:15am to 3:45pm.
Key Qualifications:
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license Previous school-based nursing or pediatric experience preferred Comfortable with diabetes management, including glucose monitoring and insulin administration Strong communication skills for collaborating with educational staff and parents Ability to create a supportive, safe environment for students with medical needs Flexible and compassionate approach to individualized student care
Role Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 nursing care to a kindergarten-aged student diagnosed with diabetes Monitor the student's glucose levels, administer insulin, and manage dietary needs as per the care plan Document observations, interventions, and updates for the student's medical records Respond promptly to medical events and communicate health concerns to school staff and guardians Educate the school community on diabetes awareness when appropriate Maintain a nurturing environment that supports the student's learning, safety, and wellness throughout the school day This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $40-50, recognizing your specialized skills and commitment to student well-being.
