Scrub Registered Nurse- Float - PER DIEM

We are seeking a Perioperative Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our pain management ambulatory surgery center with two procedure rooms. A qualified nurse to assist Pain Management physician during special procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to work in thePre-0p/PACU and Procedure room. Must be flexible with hours. Ambulatory Surgery experience is a plus.

General Job Responsibilities:

Provide nursing care to patients in compliance with standards of practice defined by ANA, AORN, ASPAN, and state practice act standards, as well as organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Adhere to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.

Procedure room responsibilities include:

Assists surgeons in preparing for and performing various pain management procedures under monitored anesthesia care and no sedation. Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for sterile technique, specialized equipment/technology in pain management Assess patients prior to procedure Gather supplies needed for procedure and account for supplies consumed Assist provider as needed Position and prepare patients on procedure table Monitor patients' vital signs Adhere to safety standards and precautions Accurately record patient care records in EMR during and following procedures in a timely manner. Pre-0p/PACU responsibilities include: Administer diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. The PACU nurse will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from MAC and local anesthesia. Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for the procedure Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure Assess patients' post-operative condition Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria Log all findings in the EMR Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies Ensure patient EMR is complete, including patient history and documents are signed.

REQUIREMENTS

Current NYS RN licensure required. Bachelor's degree preferred. BLS certification ACLS within 6 months of hire. Minimum one year of work experience in pain management procedures. Understanding of ASPS, and ISPAN standards; OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practice, and quality assurance required.
