A Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator plays a crucial role in the operating room (OR), ensuring the smooth and safe execution of surgical procedures. Here's a detailed job description for an RN Circulator who monitors patients before, during, and after surgery:Job Description:
Pre-Operative Care:
Verify patient identity and surgical site. Conduct pre op assessments, including verifying allergies medical history and NPO status Review patient medical records and history. Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies. Provide emotional support to patients and their families.Intra-Operative Care:
Maintain a sterile environment in the OR. Monitor the surgical team to ensure adherence to sterile techniques. Assist in positioning the patient safely before surgery. Document all aspects of the surgical procedure in the patient's chart. Coordinate with anesthesia providers to ensure patient safety. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary instruments and supplies. Monitor and address patient needs during procedure. Respond to emergencies promptly, assisting with resuscitative effortsPost-Operative Care:
Monitor the patient's recovery in the post-op. Assess the patient's condition and readiness for discharge. Update patient medical records with post-operative information. Provide post-operative instructions and support to patients and their families.Qualifications:
