Responsible for the direct and indirect care of pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post-procedure patients. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing services under their charge and communicates pertinent information to provide optimum patient care in the Endoscopy Department. Job Responsibilities Include :
Manage day to day operations in assigned areas. Facilitates efficient operations by providing direction and guidance. Solicits input from providers; acts on requests or escalate as needed. Responsible for assuring customer/patient service needs are met. Monitors patient service feedback and works with provider and leadership on any concerns/issues for quick resolution. Partners with Manager and Educator on hiring, coaching and the development of team. Partners with Manager and Educator in coordinating and monitoring new employee orientation and education. Maintains highest level of confidentiality in regards to internal proprietary and patient information. Follows all required regulatory and legal compliance related to confidentiality, and safety (HIPPA, OSHA, TJC, etc.) Maintains standards of patient care per SGNA standards. Develops strong intra-department teamwork to meet the needs of the patient and providers. Partners with Manager to ensure appropriate staffing ratios across all locations. Assists to monitor and evaluate overtime. Assists in the development of the staffing schedule; including call and charge assignments. Supports and promotes a positive role and image with vendors, patients, staff, providers and leadership. Aides in coordination of activities for the department; will step into a patient assignment role based on needs of the department. Participates in committee activities as assigned. Assesses patient physical condition. Reviews history and physical, vital signs, and diagnostic studies; reports abnormalities or patient needs to provider. Conducts pre

Assess knowledge level, ability to understand and coping mechanisms of patient and support system and responds accordingly. Establishes priorities for nursing actions, assigns activities to personnel based on qualifications, and prepares for potential emergencies; is aware of and competent to respond to complications that may arise. Appropriately utilizes Universal Protocol per Cayuga Health policy. Anticipates needs and provides equipment and supplies based on patient age, health status and proposed procedure. Ability to perform Manometry, Capsule Endoscopy, and input/retrieve data from operating systems. Plans and organizes self to meet patient care requirements and unit needs within their shift; will stay beyond as necessary. Demonstrates ability to prioritize needs and care of patient during both scheduled and urgent situations. Demonstrates ability to handle any variation in the plan of care in a calm, efficient manner. Demonstrates effective delegation skills. Completes all mandatory educational requirements and seeks out learning opportunities. Demonstrates flexibility and supports/promotes change as needed. Demonstrates quality and effective communication with all team members. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Experience
  • Previous Endoscopy experience in required. Previous leadership experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Licensure
  • Current NYS Registered Nursing license Certifications
  • Current
BLS. ACLS
certification must be obtained prior to completion of the introductory period. Certification for Gastroenterology Nursing preferred. Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift 20 pounds.
Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50 or more pounds. Good dexterity and ability to stand in place for extended periods of time. Ability to move or lift patients with assistance.
