Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Operating Room Job Type Contract Make a direct impact on patient care in a dynamic surgical setting as a Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work alongside skilled surgical teams, focusing primarily on Cardiothoracic cases, with the flexibility to assist in a variety of general, minimally invasive, robotic, GYN, GU, ENT, and orthopedic procedures depending on demand.
Schedule:
Four 10-hour shifts weekly (Monday-Friday), 7:00am-5:30pm On-call coverage 3 to 4 times per week (from shift end to the next scheduled shift) Call every other weekend, starting after Friday's shift until Monday at 6:00am
Desired Skills & Experience:
Active NY RN license required Minimum of 1 year Operating Room RN experience, with strong preference for cardiothoracic surgical background Proficient in perioperative nursing practices and able to adapt to other surgical specialties as needed Strong clinical judgment and communication skills Capable of responding promptly to urgent or emergency call situations Commitment to upholding state and facility regulatory standards, ethics, and policies
Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for surgical patients Serve as primary or accountable nurse with a focus on both safety and quality outcomes Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery processes, and ongoing health management Safely administer medications and comply with all facility medication policies Participate in resource management and support productivity initiatives Engage in continued professional growth, unit-focused improvement projects, and support peer and student learning Step into Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities as assigned Take the next step in your nursing career and contribute to a collaborative team dedicated to excellence in surgical care.
