Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact by supporting a student who needs both expert clinical care and encouragement throughout the school day. An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to provide dedicated 1:1 care to a student with a recent tracheostomy. This assignment begins as early as July 6 during the Extended School Year (ESY) session, with the possibility to continue into the new school year (NSY). If summer placement isn't feasible, consideration for a September 8 start date is also available. In this role, you'll work closely with educators and support staff at a BOCES placement near Lakewood, NY, ensuring student safety, well-being, and engagement. Your expertise will be foundational to the student's ability to participate in classroom activities and thrive in the learning environment.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
Active RN license required Experience providing nursing care within a school setting preferred tracheostomy care experience highly desired Ability to respond to emergency situations efficiently and confidently Strong communication and collaboration skills Compassion, reliability, and dedication to pediatric care
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day, including monitoring and assisting with tracheostomy needs Administer medications as prescribed and participate in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process Respond to daily health needs and any emergency situations that arise Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere Keep accurate documentation and records You'll have the opportunity to truly make a difference—not just in the student's health, but in their educational experience.
