Job Description
Position Summary The Regional Summer School Nurse provides professional nursing services to students participating in the Regional Summer School (RSS) program at G. Ray Bodley High School. This position supports students from three component school districts and is responsible for promoting student health, safety, and well-being during the summer program. The nurse will collaborate with administration, instructional staff, families, and component districts to ensure appropriate medical care and compliance with health regulations. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide nursing care and first aid to students during the summer school day. Manage and administer prescribed medications in accordance with physician orders, district policies, and New York State regulations. Develop, implement, and monitor student health care plans, including emergency and chronic condition plans. Assess student illnesses and injuries and determine appropriate course of action, including parent/guardian notification and referral to medical providers when necessary. Maintain accurate, confidential health records and documentation for students from all participating districts. Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency care as needed. Communicate effectively with component district nurses, administrators, parents/guardians, and RSS staff regarding student health needs. Ensure compliance with NYS Education Law, Department of Health regulations, and district policies. Support students with disabilities and special medical needs as part of the RSS program. Participate in required meetings, trainings, and planning related to summer school health services. Maintain a safe, sanitary, and well-organized health office environment.
Qualifications:
Qualifications Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license. CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or community health preferred. Knowledge of NYS school health regulations and medication administration guidelines. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple school districts. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional judgment.Similar jobs in Mexico, NY
