Job Description Responsibilities:

Provide nursing care and health services to students within the BOCES program. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address students' health needs. Collaborate with mental health agencies (psychiatric nurse practitioners and clinicians) embedded within the educational program to meet students' needs as a whole. Conduct health assessments, screenings, and immunization checks. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers. Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid when necessary. Maintain accurate health records for students. Educate students and staff on health-related topics. Contribute to the development of IEPs and participate in CSE meetings for students as necessary. Coordinate with local health departments and community resources. Support students with chronic health conditions and disabilities. Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Civil Service This is a professional nursing position which involves the responsibility for giving care to students and employees' health needs. Civil Service Title Registered Professional Nurse Job Qualifications Valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license. Current CPR/AED Training. Able to follow District procedures and guidelines for health care and medication storage and administration. Able to follow doctor's orders for student medication administration. Experience in school nursing or a related field is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of relevant health laws and regulations. Ability to maintain confidential information. Fingerprinting through the New York State Education Department is a requirement for working in the school district. Compassion and empathy for students' well-being.
