Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and detail-oriented Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse (PMH RN) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality psychiatric nursing care, support patient recovery journeys, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive mental health treatment. Your expertise will help foster a safe, supportive environment for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status exams and vital signs, to establish individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including psychotropic medications and other psychiatric interventions. Monitor patient progress, document clinical observations, and update medical records accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic. Provide patient education on medication management, coping strategies, and treatment plans to promote understanding and adherence. Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and safety planning for patients experiencing acute psychiatric episodes. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. Support discharge planning and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment post-hospitalization or outpatient visits. Requirements Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice. Proven experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing; experience with inpatient or outpatient settings preferred. Knowledge of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and dementia care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Epic for documentation purposes. Strong assessment skills including working with individuals with developmental disabilities and those requiring trauma-informed care. Ability to handle complex cases involving acute pain management, crisis intervention, and medication administration including injections and IV infusions.
