1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity PCU/MS Tele position requiring PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years and an active NY RN license. Details Mixed-acuity unit serving PCU, MS Tele, and MS patients in a hospital setting Patient population includes surgical pre/op and post-op (ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, ortho surgery), overflow medical diagnosis patients, and rare pediatric cases — travelers are not assigned to pediatric patients unless they have relevant experience Patient ratios are adjusted by acuity: 1:3-5 on days and weekends, 1:3-6 on nights Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Every other weekend required Floating required to sister units: West 2, West 3, and the Observation unitEMR:
Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Communication framework:SBAR TCAR
experience preferred for this unit Requirements Active NY RN license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 1 year of RN experience required PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years required Required clinical skills include: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Post-MI care, IV insulin protocols and drip titration, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure management, port access, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral and PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management and titration, PCA, thrombolytic agents, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula/oxygen mask management, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac PALS and TCAR certifications preferred Additional Information Orientation is 12 hours First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are not accepted — candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) for the duration of the contract All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application Solid color scrubs required (any color)Similar jobs in Potsdam, NY
