Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic emergency care team in the PM shift, working 36 hours per week at a reputable healthcare facility in Schenetctady, New York. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality emergency medical services in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and a comprehensive understanding of diverse clinical procedures. As a Travel RN, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, performing complex assessments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients presenting with acute conditions in a Level I or Level II trauma center setting. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Manage airway support with ventilator assistance and perform advanced life support procedures during emergencies. Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results. Assist with procedures like suturing, catheterization, and wound care while maintaining sterile technique. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic. Monitor patients' physiological status continuously and respond promptly to changes in condition. Engage in triage activities to prioritize patient care based on severity of illness or injury. Support infection control practices and adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery and safety post-treatment. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York or appropriate compact licensure. Minimum of two years' experience in emergency medicine or critical care environments, including hospital ER experience. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus. Demonstrated expertise in advanced procedures including IV insertion, suturing, airway management, and trauma care. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience working within trauma centers (Level I or II), urgent care settings, or similar acute care environments. Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and delivering compassionate patient care. Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for high-quality emergency nursing.
