Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing expert nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods across various hospital settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in obstetric nursing, critical care experience, and proficiency with electronic health records systems. This position offers an opportunity to deliver compassionate patient care while working in a fast-paced, supportive environment during night shifts on a 36-hour schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, ensuring safety and comfort Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs continuously using advanced equipment Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans Administer medications including epidurals, analgesics, and other interventions following strict aseptic techniques Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and IV insertions while maintaining sterile environments Educate patients and their families about labor processes, postpartum care, and newborn care instructions Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner Respond promptly to emergency situations utilizing advanced airway management and acute pain management skills Support triage assessments for incoming patients based on clinical protocols Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies at all times
Requirements:
Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Minimum of two years of recent labor and delivery nursing experience in hospital settings Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or emergency room exposure Proficiency with electronic medical records systems such as Epic or Cerner Knowledge of obstetric procedures including fetal monitoring, suturing, and IV infusion techniques Familiarity with ICD-10 coding standards and medical documentation practices Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations while maintaining excellent patient care standards Experience working with diverse patient populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or complex medical needs Knowledge of trauma medicine, Level I Trauma Center protocols, and emergency response procedures is advantageous Join our team to make a meaningful difference in maternal health outcomes while advancing your professional skills in a supportive environment dedicated to excellence in patient care. #
