Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Please join our dedicated team of Hospitalists at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, a member of the Stony Brook Medicine Health System, located in Southampton, New York. As part of this integrated academic health system, hospitalists at Southampton Hospital contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The role includes providing comprehensive care for observation and inpatient populations while in the hospital, participating in the education of residents and medical students, and supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of care across the health system
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Daily rounds on patient census Presence at change of shift for sign out is essential Admit patients to the hospital from through the Stony Brook Southampton and Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Departments and other locations within the organization. Obtains accurate medical histories, performs physical examinations, and makes diagnosis, develops treatment plans, and orders appropriate, standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary. Collaborates with consulting medical providers Accurately and timely documents patient symptoms and clinical findings in the Electronic Medical Record as a progress note daily while the patient is on observation or an inpatient. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patients? plan of care. Follows established evidence-based practices and ensures good quality patient care. Provides patient education about underlying medical conditions, self-management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailor?s instructions to patients? individual circumstances. Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance. Oversees and mentors fellows and medical residents on the medical teams Responsible for conduct and patient interaction of shadowing medical students, physician extenders and nursing interns.
Salary:
$320,000 - 350,000 for 24 weeks of day shifts annually. Opportunity to earn additional compensation if the provider covers night shifts within the 24 weeks. Per diem rates are also available for coverage provided outside of contracted weeks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients or objects may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as assisting with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
