Job Description

Pay Range USD $78.50 - USD $83.57 /Hr. About Us Blythedale Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care. As the only free-standing children's specialty hospital in New York State, we admit patients with complex medical conditions to our state-of-the-art 118-bed facility from academic medical centers across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Our highly skilled staff enjoys the heartfelt rewards of making a difference in our patients' lives. Overview Blythedale Children's Hospital is seeking a pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our multidisciplinary team as a primary provider on our inpatient pediatrics unit. Patients are referred from acute care NICUs, PICUs, and pediatric inpatient wards, ages spanning from infancy to 21 years old. Average length of stay is 60 days. Conditions you will manage include but are not limited to respiratory failure (acute/non-invasive support as well as chronic/tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation), staged repair of congenital heart disease, traumatic and acquired neurologic conditions, disorders of growth and feeding, and orthopedic rehabilitation. You will play an integral role in both acute and chronic care, medication and device management and titration, as well as care coordination with pediatric subspecialists and discharge planning. This is a full-time onsite position, reporting to the Medical Director.
Schedule:
Four ten-hour shifts (8am-6pm), including six weekends and one holiday per year. Responsibilities Manage the clinical care coordination of pediatric patients and educate families through the transition from hospital to home. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, pediatric hospitalists, nursing, medical, and therapy staff to deliver high-quality care. Assess patient conditions and health needs, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care and educational factors. Complete history/physicals, progress notes, physician orders, discharge plans and prescriptions and other documentation required for the care of the patients. Participate in parent and team conferences. Participate in Interdisciplinary Care Planning (IDCP). Ensures compliance with established objectives, clinical practice, state, federal and Join Commission regulations and quality medical services. Serve as a resource to multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders (e.g. parents, guardians and city/state contacts as appropriate). Cross-cover inpatient, outpatient and long-term care units within the hospital as needed. Qualifications Minimum two (2) years of experience in a pediatric hospital setting, critical care or emergency medicine. Clinical experience in neonatal ICUs and pediatric patients with complex medical needs and chronic conditions. Experience with teaching, clinical research, performance improvement Working knowledge of Meditech (EMR) Education, Licensure, and Certification Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school. Current New York State Nurse Practitioner License with prescription writing privileges issued. by the New York State Department of Education. BLS certificate. PALs Certificate.
