Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional perioperative care. This position offers an energetic environment dedicated to patient safety, surgical excellence, and teamwork. As an OR RN, you will be at the forefront of surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert nursing practices. Your expertise in various surgical specialties and commitment to sterile technique will contribute to a seamless surgical experience for every patient. Duties Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready for procedures. Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments, suturing, and managing sterile fields with precision and care. Monitor patient vital signs continuously, assess their condition before, during, and after surgery, and respond swiftly to any changes. Administer medications including anesthesia agents, antibiotics, and pain management drugs following strict protocols. Maintain accurate medical documentation of procedures, patient assessments, medication administration, and intraoperative events in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Support infection control practices by adhering to aseptic technique and sterilization standards throughout all procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and post-anesthesia care providers to ensure comprehensive patient care. Skills Proven experience working in operating rooms with proficiency in OR procedures and sterile techniques. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical care. Familiarity with advanced surgical equipment including ventilators, suction devices, and electrocautery tools. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Ability to perform IV insertion, catheterization, suturing, and specimen collection with precision. Critical care experience in settings like ICU or trauma centers is highly desirable for managing complex cases. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) for accurate documentation and billing processes. Skilled in patient assessment, airway management, pain management strategies, and post-operative discharge planning. Capable of working efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or emergency surgeries. Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with surgical teams and provide compassionate patient care before and after procedures. $56.71 - $68.30 per hour
