Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract If you're a compassionate licensed nurse passionate about supporting students with medical needs, consider this rewarding summer contract opportunity in the Elmira, NY area. This position seeks professionals for both 1:1 and program nursing roles within a specialized educational program. You'll play a vital part in ensuring that students requiring medical oversight receive exceptional, attentive care while participating in their educational programs. Ideal candidates will bring strong clinical skills and the ability to adapt in a school environment to provide both routine and specialized support. Experience with medically fragile students or in a special needs educational setting is highly valued.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
Current and active NY State RN or LPN license (required) Prior experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or working with medically complex students preferred Ability to safely administer medications, tube feedings, and nebulizer treatments Experience providing 1:1 care as well as serving in multi-student classroom settings Excellent organizational skills for medication tracking and health documentation Calm, patient demeanor with a genuine desire to work with children and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 nurse care to medically fragile students, including tube feeding and medication administration Serve as a program nurse for multiple disabled classrooms, ensuring the health and safety of all students by performing medication administration, nebulizer treatments, and more Maintain accurate and detailed health records Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and families regarding student health needs
