Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized wound, ostomy, and continence care within a collaborative healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, provide advanced wound management, and support patient and staff education while ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Conduct health assessments focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Recommend medications, treatments, and preventative interventions as appropriate Assess, monitor, and document patient responses to wound care and complex treatment plans Manage care for wounds, fistulas, ostomies, continence issues, and pressure injuries Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and initiate referrals when necessary Provide patient, family, and caregiver education regarding wound management and prevention of complications Develop, implement, and evaluate staff education and continuing education programs Support quality improvement initiatives, prevalence studies, and nursing quality programs Assist with the selection and evaluation of wound care supplies, equipment, and technologies Monitor and manage specialty equipment including specialty beds and negative pressure wound devices Maintain compliance with patient confidentiality, infection prevention, and documentation standards Identify and coordinate community resources to support patient care and recovery Promote culturally competent patient-centered care in accordance with patient needs and belief systems
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Licensure & Certifications:
Active New York State RN License Primary Source Verification through NYSED Current AHA BLS Certification Required Wound Care Certification (One Required): Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
- WOCNCB Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
- WOCNCB Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
- WOCNCB Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)
- ABWM Wound Care Certified (WCC)

NAWCO Experience:
