Patients range from medically complex acute care to post‑operative recovery and step‑down monitoring. The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, evidence‑based nursing care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote patient safety, recovery, and timely discharge.
- Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- RNs assigned to Medical‑Surgical units are responsible for providing high‑quality nursing care in accordance with established standards of practice.
Responsibilities include:
+ Comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing clinical reassessment + Medication administration and IV therapy + Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation + Coordination with interdisciplinary care teams + Admission, discharge, and transfer processes + Internal and external patient transfers + Delegation and supervision of assistive personnel + Accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation + Patient transport + Participation in emergency response procedures
- Medical‑Surgical Unit Assignments
- 4A Oncology
- + 12‑bed acute oncology unit caring for patients with oncology‑specific diagnoses + Common conditions include initial cancer diagnosis and diagnostic workups, continued administration of bio/chemotherapy, oncology symptom management, telemetry monitoring, infections, respiratory complications, neutropenia and neutropenic fevers, sepsis, hematologic and coagulation disorders, failure to thrive, and palliative care needs + Treatment modalities include telemetry, biotherapy and chemotherapy administration, blood product transfusions, IV antibiotics, post‑chemotherapy symptom management, pain management, central line care, Foley catheters, heparin drip titrations, chest tubes, drainage systems, PleurX catheters, surgical wound care including wound vacs, and hospice or end‑of‑life care •4A Medical‑Surgical•+ 24‑bed acute care/telemetry unit + Manages patients with acute medical conditions including infections, respiratory complications, sepsis, coagulation disorders, urology conditions, cardiac conditions (heart failure, myocardial infarctions, post‑catheterizations), substance withdrawal, dementia, behavioral health concerns, placement needs, and palliative care + Treatment includes IV fluids and antibiotics, central line care, heparin therapy, coagulation bridging, chest tubes, nephrostomy tubes, PleurX catheters, Foley catheters, ostomy and wound care, pain management, pre‑ and post‑operative care, psychiatric and behavioral management, 1:1 sitters for safety, and end‑of‑life care •4B Medical‑Surgical•+ 35‑bed acute care/telemetry unit + Provides care for patients with similar acute and chronic conditions as 4A Medical‑Surgical, including complex medical management, telemetry monitoring, behavioral health needs, and placement planning + Common therapies include IV medications, central line management, heparin drips, coagulation therapy, drainage systems, urologic devices, ostomy and wound care, surgical recovery, and palliative or end‑of‑life coordination •5A Medical‑Surgical•+ 35‑bed acute care/telemetry unit + Specializes in post‑operative recovery for thoracic, vascular, general surgery, TALC procedures, gastrointestinal, urologic, ophthalmologic, orthopedic, and ENT surgical patients + Provides acute medical management and continuous cardiac monitoring for a diverse patient population with complex clinical needs •5B Rehabilitation / Neurological•+ 13‑bed acute care/telemetry unit + Provides specialized care for patients requiring rehabilitation, neurological care, and combined medical‑surgical management + Supports patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions, as well as those with post‑operative or acute medical needs requiring telemetry monitoring •Progressive Care Unit (PCU)•+ 25‑bed acute care/telemetry unit with step‑down capability + Provides care for patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and clinical support than a general medical‑surgical unit, but not intensive care + Supports patients undergoing oral or IV antiarrhythmic drug loading and serves as a bridge between complex medical or surgical conditions and lower‑acuity care settings •Client Details•Client Type•Government •Setting•Hospital (Inpatient) •Address•10701 East Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44106-3800 •City•Cleveland •State•OHEGA Associates, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
