Overview We are seeking a highly skilled CVOR Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team at a leading pediatric hospital. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nursing, demonstrating expertise in perioperative care for pediatric cardiac and thoracic surgeries. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional patient care in a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to pediatric health. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive preoperative assessments and prepare patients for cardiovascular surgeries within the CVOR setting. Assist surgeons during complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and sterile protocols. Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia levels, and physiological parameters throughout surgical procedures, responding swiftly to any changes. Administer medications, including anesthesia agents and other critical drugs such as botulinum toxin treatments when indicated. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and postoperative care staff to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain meticulous documentation of surgical procedures, patient responses, and medication administration in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Support postoperative recovery by assisting with patient assessments, pain management, and discharge planning tailored to pediatric needs. Requirements Valid registered nurse (RN) license with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Proven experience working in a CVOR or operating room environment with pediatric or adult cardiac surgery experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, surgical procedures, and aseptic techniques relevant to pediatric cardiac care. Familiarity with medical documentation systems such as Epic or Cerner EHR platforms. Experience with specialized procedures including catheterization, suturing, ventilator management, and IV infusion therapy. Ability to work effectively within high-pressure situations typical of Level I Trauma Centers or similar acute care settings. Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to working with children and their families. Additional experience in critical care areas such as ICU or PICU is highly desirable. Qualifications Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
Pay:
$50.00 - $60.00 per hour
