Job Description
Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Experience the rewards and challenges of nursing in a dynamic Progressive Care/Stepdown Unit serving cardiac telemetry, vascular, and med-surg patients, including those post-cath and post-pacemaker. This contract role offers an opportunity to collaborate with an engaged interdisciplinary team, caring for a wide range of complex adult and geriatric patients.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts (PM) Every other weekend and every other holiday requiredQualifications:
Active RN license (State or Compact) Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Stepdown/PCU BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required Successful completion of a Dysrhythmia Exam prior to start (Study Guide provided) No local candidates; travel experience not requiredPreferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, CCRN orPCCN, EPIC EHR
experienceKey Responsibilities:
Conduct ongoing assessments and develop individualized care plans Safely administer medications and advanced therapies (Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin drips) Manage and care for lines, drains, and devices (PICC, dialysis catheters, PEGs, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, wound vacs, high flow, tube feeding) Interpret and document telemetry strips in EPIC once per shift Provide point-of-contact care coordination across departments and serve as patient advocate Educate patients and families, supporting them through illness and recovery Model evidence-based practice, compassionate care, and integrity in all interactions You'll work alongside 1-3 PCAs and a unit secretary depending on census, with phlebotomy available for lab draws. The typical patient ratio is 1:5-6 on nights, subject to operational needs. Navy blue scrubs required.
