Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Deliver specialized nursing care in an Intermediate Coronary Care Unit (Stepdown Unit) focused on cardiac and multisystem patient populations. This travel RN position is based in Niles, OH, offering a dynamic and challenging healthcare environment. The role requires acute clinical skills in telemetry monitoring, cardiac and respiratory support, and multi-disciplinary coordination to promote optimal patient outcomes. This is a 13-week contract position and does not accept local candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, plan individualized care, and evaluate treatment efficacy. Administer medications including drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, and insulin; titrate as needed. Monitor patients with waveform telemetry, interpreting and signing cardiac strips with the support of telemetry technicians. Manage care for complex cardiac patients including atrial fibrillation, CHF, pre/post catheterization, open heart surgeries, along with respiratory, renal, stroke/TIA, and ICU transfer patients. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and advocate for patient safety and quality improvement. Provide education and support to patients and families during acute illness and recovery phases. Maintain regulatory and facility compliance including BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Valid RN license (compact or state-specific) Minimum 1 year of RN experience; at least 6 months in an acute care hospital setting preferred Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide provided) BLS and ACLS certification mandatory; NIH Stroke Certification preferred Previous cardiovascular or stepdown unit experience strongly preferred Critical care course and
EPIC EHR
training advantageous
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
