Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Deliver advanced patient care in a Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit focused on cardiac and neurological conditions. This travel RN opportunity is ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, acute care environment managing complex cases such as chest pain, post-heart catheterization, stroke, seizures, and intermediate care patients.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement nursing care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Administer medications and treatments safely following current nursing standards and facility protocols. Coordinate care for patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma, adapting quickly to changing conditions. Manage high patient turnover with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5. Handle specialized equipment including central lines, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and advanced respiratory devices (BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow NC). Support patient and family coping strategies, providing education and advocacy throughout their care. Maintain bedside presence during interventions such as conscious sedation and management of transvenous pacing.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current RN license in a compact state. Minimum one year RN experience; 6 months acute care preferred. Certification or ability to obtain BLS, ACLS, and Dysrhythmia Exam. Knowledge of stroke protocols and intermediate care preferred (NIH Stroke Certification a plus). Experience with cardiac drips initiation and telemetry monitoring. Familiarity with EPIC EHR and critical care courses valued. Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a schedule of every other weekend and every other holiday.
