CLEVELAND AREA HOSPITAL
is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital, half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. As the only hospital in Pawnee County, we are constantly striving to provide the highest level of care by continuously growing and updating our services and equipment. Our facilities include a Level IV Trauma Center/ER, Skilled Nursing/Swing Bed program, Respiratory Therapy, CT, 3D Mammography, a fully equipped Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, 24/7 Lab, and a Primary Care Clinic. The organization is a Regional Healthcare Provider in its 10th year of consistent leadership. Continuing the spirit of growth, healing, and service-driven healthcare established when the hospital first opened in 1963, Cleveland Area Hospital is on track to build a new facility, expand our services, and better serve our patients and communities.
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide general nursing care and leadership, working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The R.N. will promote and restore patients' health as they assess, plan, implement, delegate, evaluate, document, and coordinate comprehensive professional care through the use of the nursing process for patients of all ages, genders, cultures, and backgrounds by providing physical and psycho-social support to patients, friends, and families. The R.N. will plan for the provision of patient care, including the development, modification, and implementation of the plan of care, to deliver efficient, effective, and high-quality patient care, with oversight of other personnel, including but not limited to Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. The R.N. must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care and is expected to adhere to the facility's policies and the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Duties:
Assess, plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care. Uses good communication skills to interact with patients, families, and team members. Assist Case Management by serving as a patient advocate, resource, and point of contact for patients. Provides basic education information to patients and family, focusing on self-care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs. Performs assessment data collection and documents subjective data (chief complaint, allergies, etc.) and objective data (vital signs, weight, etc.). Reviews basic health history information for patients, focusing on environmental, self-care, and discharge planning. Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly using the 7 patient rights, accurately identifies patients, and performs lab/diagnostic testing as ordered by the provider, and reports all critical lab values immediately. Demonstrates an ability to remain calm, perform effectively and professionally during peak periods of activity and emergency situations. Assists the provider with examinations and procedures as requested. Utilizes universal precautions in obtaining specimens (venipuncture, cultures, etc.) and in the delivery of patient care. Other duties as required.
Team Duties:
Evaluates the effectiveness of the care given by the interdisciplinary care team, identifies problems, and guides team members to their solution. Assigns care to team members in accordance with patient needs, staff capabilities, and qualifications. Participates in training, orientation, competency assessment, and education of new employees. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately, creating a work environment that promotes personnel growth and job satisfaction. Uses effective coaching, positive reinforcement, and other methods to enhance team performance. Serves as a resource person to other staff members. Other duties as required.
Administrative Duties:
Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and patients' rights. Actively engage and stay up to date with the organization's communications and directives. Acts in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of Cleveland Area Hospital, and demonstrates compliance with all policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations. Demonstrates ongoing service excellence skills. Maintains economical and efficient nursing care in a clean and safe environment. Participates in performance improvement activities as required. Demonstrates ongoing understanding and supports corporate strategic initiatives. Participates in meetings and education, and demonstrates a genuine desire to develop strategies to improve operations for a higher level of patient care. Assist the Director of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer in evaluating the performance of team members for performance appraisals. Communicates effectively with the DON/CNO about any problems. Reviews staffing to ensure an adequate number of qualified staff to provide quality care to patients. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED
Current R.N. license recognized and in good standing with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing

One year preferred
RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION
This position could have access to patient confidential records and must comply with HIPAA regulations as well as Cleveland Area Hospital Policies.
