Nursing Job Description Job Summary:
The Telemetry Cardiac Registered Nurse (Step-Down Unit) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and intermediate-level care. This role supports patients transitioning from ICU to med-surg, requiring strong assessment skills and rapid response capability.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Continuous cardiac monitoring using telemetry equipment ✔ Interpret heart rhythms and respond to abnormalities (arrhythmias, tachycardia, AFib, etc.) ✔ Administer medications including cardiac drips as per protocols ✔ Monitor vital signs, oxygenation, hemodynamic stability and pain management ✔ Assist during emergencies — Code Blue, Rapid Response situations ✔ Develop and implement individualized patient care plans ✔ Educate patients and families regarding condition and treatment procedures ✔ Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams ✔ Accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) License Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Telemetry / Cardiac / IMC / Step-Down preferred Strong telemetry rhythm interpretation and cardiac care knowledge BLS and ACLS required Excellent critical thinking, communication and patient care skills Preferred Experience (Not Mandatory): Experience with cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine etc.) Familiarity with EPIC or other EMR platforms Ventilator and BiPAP patient management (preferred in some facilities)
