REGISTERED NURSE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
(100% of Time) Interviews patients in the clinic to obtain medical history; explains medical forms to clients and assists in their completion; reinforces fee payments and update records. Utilizes clinical assessment skills necessary for evaluation of clients in a family planning/adult health screening clinic. Interprets physician's recommendations and orders to patients. Instructs and reinforces client's understanding of the clinician's order prior to departure to ensure compliance with prescription and directions. Applies knowledge of all contraceptive methods, including emergency contraception and sterilization in the provision of comprehensive family planning options/procedures counseling. Receives calls from patients regarding contraceptive problems; follows up on failed appointments, abnormal pap/laboratory results, and maintains necessary records. Assists clients with Medicaid applications. Prepares and collects lab specimens. Participates in orientation process of new staff and students. Acts as patient advocate when referring clients to other resources within the community. Participates in department meetings and community meetings related to family planning services. Assists manager in conducting monthly and or quarterly audits for quality assurance at five Family Planning sites. Reviews and signs time and effort reports in absence of manager. Orders and tracks specific Family Planning supplies and in disseminating supplies between five sites. Acts as assistant to physician in the Gynecology Clinic. Coordinates staffing schedules in absence of manager. Coordinates and schedules student rotation through Family Planning and Adult Health clinics. First responder to fill in for staff at all sites during leave time. Coordinates abnormal follow-up referral with community partners. Completes required training in support of duties and responsibilities of this position. Other duties as assigned including those required to fulfill activities in support of public health emergency operations.REGISTERED NURSE QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Associate degree in nursing required.Experience:
Two years of experience as a professional nurse preferred.Registered Nurse Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional nursing, particularly relating to public health nursing; of basic math and ability to accurately calculate fee assessments. Skills in interacting with patients of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Counseling and providing health education and in providing skilled nursing care; in listening and paying attention to details, and retaining information. Good communication skills with non-judgmental approach. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills preferred.Licenses:
Possession of a valid professional nursing license issued by theOklahoma State Board of Registered Nurse Hours:
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm No Evenings, Weekends or Holidays This is a 12 week assignment with the possibility of going permanent.Compensation:
$36+ per hour to start, depending on experiencePay:
