Job Description

Options Pregnancy Resource Centers Staff Nurse, RN Position description Objectives of the position : The Staff Nurse assures quality and caring in the delivery of medical services of Options Pregnancy Resource Centers. The position is part time. Reports to :
Clinic Director Qualifications:
  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  • Maintain a consistent life-affirming philosophy and dedication to the sanctity of all human life.
  • Express full agreement with Statement of Faith and Principle, Mission Statement and Policies and Procedures of Options PRC.
  • Be able to provide spiritual encouragement to other staff members and volunteers.
  • Have scheduling flexibility to meet Options PRC's needs of onsite medical coverage including the mobile clinic.
  • Have interpersonal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Have the ability to maintain confidentially.
  • Be able to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit computer skills and a willingness to learn new programs.
  • Maintain a current Registered Nurse's License in good standing and maintain professional standards of care in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Oregon Board of Nursing. Comply with professional continuing education requirements.
  • Stay current in applying evolving standards of care put forth by Oregon Board of Nursing, state and federal laws and requirements impacting medical clinics and nursing practice, and continuing education as it applies to pregnancy centers and women's health.
  • Have the ability to successfully complete limited obstetric ultrasound training and give at least a one- year commitment from day of completion to use skills and training at Options PRC.
  • Have the ability to be covered by medical liability coverage provided by Options PRC.
  • Have one-year experience in medical office setting.
Responsibilities:
Direct Nursing/Medical Care:
1.
Provide nursing care:
a. Perform pregnancy tests per medical professional protocol. b. Perform ultrasounds per medical professional protocol and training. c. Provide education for patient and family to better understand health related to pregnancy and family planning. d. Provide evidence information on good nutrition during pregnancy. e. Provide evidence-based information and counsel on abortion, including procedures and risks. 2. Assess patient needs and make nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices. 3. Accurately document patient encounters in the medical record. 4. Provide patient referrals and care per nursing plan. Follow through on physician's orders and protocols. 5. Provide regular scheduled and as needed follow up with patients. 6. Respond to medical questions from patients & prospective patients (i.e. phone, walk-ins, digital). 7. Log regular medical services provided that are being tracked and include in monthly reports. 8. Provide documentation and communication to Clinic Director and Medical Director as needed. 9. Assist with supervision, and evaluation of Volunteer Medical Professionals. 10. Other nursing duties as needed or assigned. Medical Responsibilities 1. Maintain a working knowledge of methods, principles and practices in relation to the prevention of disease, safety and infection control. 2. Assist Clinic Director with review of clinic policies and procedures. 3. Ensure compliance and documentation with current infection control guidelines and other quality assurance measures (including quality controls for pregnancy testing and ultrasound vaginal transducer high-level disinfection.) 4. Assist in oversight of inventory of medical supplies and maintenance of medical equipment. 5. Assist in recruiting qualified health care professionals to volunteer in the clinic. 6. Assist in orientation and training of the clinic medical volunteers. 7. Participate in appropriate medical and clinic committees and meetings. 8. Maintain positive working relationship with all staff, Medical Director and Physician Advisors. Professional Development 1. Maintain professional license. 2. Maintain CPR certification. 3. Maintain knowledge of OB/GYN care, women's health issues, nutrition related to pregnancy, family planning, including abortion procedures and risks. 4. Successfully complete limited obstetric ultrasound training course. 5. Successfully complete patient advocate training course provided by OPRC. 6. Comply with state and professional continuing education recommendations. Other Duties 1. Be an ambassador for Options PRC. Represent Options PRC in the community on an ongoing basis as needed and as delegated by the Clinic Director. 2. Under the direction of Clinic Director, provide adequate staffing coverage in order to deliver services. 3. As part of the clinic team, assist in meeting basic patient needs. 4. Provide written monthly activity report to Clinic Director, including volunteer activity and patient follow-ups, and progress towards goals. 5. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings. 6. Other duties as needed or assigned.
