Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) PRN (pro re nata, or as needed) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this flexible role, you will provide high-quality patient care across various settings, including acute care, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health environments. Your expertise will support patient recovery, comfort, and safety while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional healthcare services. This position offers the opportunity to work independently and adapt your schedule to meet the needs of our diverse patient population. Duties Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions and medication administration. Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and wound care in accordance with best practices. Conduct triage evaluations in urgent care or emergency settings, prioritizing patient needs based on acuity levels like Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center standards. Manage acute pain and provide symptom management for patients in hospice & palliative medicine or behavioral health contexts. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in ophthalmology, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, and other specialties to coordinate patient treatment plans. Support patients with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, geriatrics, or working with individuals with disabilities through personalized care strategies. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical documentation standards, and laboratory procedures for specimen collection/processing. Participate in discharge planning, case management activities, and patient education to promote optimal health outcomes across inpatient and outpatient settings. Qualifications Current RN licensure in good standing; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred for acute care settings. Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, ICU/CCU (Critical Care Unit), emergency room or trauma centers. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Experience working with pediatric (Pediatrics), neonatal ventilator management, neonatal intensive care units (NICU), or adult acute care units is highly desirable. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques essential for effective patient assessment. Skills in IV insertion/venipuncture, sterile processing techniques like ostomy care or sterile dressing changes are advantageous. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse populations including senior care and home & community environments.
